As we move into 4th quarter, we have a variety of activities and events happening here at Spring Harbor. Please check the calendar for updates.
Hello, 6th grade families
We haven't been keeping up as well as we wanted with this website! I apologize for the missing pieces. After we come back from Spring Break I will make a determined effort to keep up with managing this site.
We hope you enjoy a good spring break.
You should have received an email regarding our school climate survey. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to complete the survey. It is anonymous and it's a useful tool for us to find out how students and families feel about our Spring Harbor community. Thanks!
Be sure to get your field trip forms in!
Field trip is Tuesday, February 14.
February 5, 2017
On behalf of my staff and our students, I wish to thank you for the outpouring of support through a difficult week. We are so very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful Spring Harbor family!
We have received information about memorial services for Michael Perchik that we would like to share with you. Family and friends are invited to visit at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6101 University Ave, Madison, on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Celebration of Michael's Life will take place at 11 a.m. Michael will be laid to rest at Hermitage Cemetery in Mount Hope, WI.
Mike was a beloved student - and some students and their families may choose to attend the memorial. Funerals can provide some support to students through the initial period of mourning, and they can provide a time to honor, remember, and affirm the life of the person who died. However, funerals can also be difficult for some children, and parents should carefully consider the decision to attend. I have included the following excerpt from an excellent article from the National Institute of Mental Health, in the hopes that it might be helpful to you.
I thought I would send a quick update with our plans for this week. We will continue to run a normal schedule (remember it is an early release Monday) for our students. We will also keep the library space open for students who may be in need of ongoing support. We want to remind parents of our WIN (What I Need) form, which is a tool that we use to have students and/or parents use to reach out to school staff for further support, regardless of the type of support needed. You may access that tool here or on our school website.
Thank you for your sympathy and concern during this difficult time. We continue to share stories about Mike and discuss our feelings. We miss him very much and take great strength from our supportive community. We will continue to collect cards and/or donations for Mike’s family in the main office at SHMS.
Brought to you by your 6th grade academic team
